Before anyone talks about ERP…

I look for a few things first.

If the team can’t explain how work actually flows

If BOMs don’t match what’s being built

If reporting depends on someone “knowing where to look”

If spreadsheets are holding things together

That’s not an ERP problem yet.

That’s a visibility problem.

Most teams skip this part.

Start by getting the process clear.

How work actually moves.

What’s real vs what’s assumed.

Where decisions are being made — and why.

Then decide if a system helps.

The system doesn’t fix this.

It just exposes it faster.

This is what I’ve learned the hard way.
