Everyone says they want ERP accountability…
until it’s time to name who owns the outcome.
I’ve seen this play out over and over:
Leadership funds it
IT configures it
Consultants implement it
Operations lives with it
But no one owns whether it actually works.
So when things break:
It’s “the system”
It’s “the users”
It’s “training”
It’s never ownership.
ERP success isn’t a technology problem.
It’s an ownership problem.
If one person isn’t clearly responsible for:
data integrity
process adherence
system outcomes
You don’t have a system.
You have shared liability.
Most ERP failures don’t come from picking the wrong system.
They come from never assigning ownership in the first place.
This is what I’ve learned the hard way.
